Daguerre is an SQL-driven CMS for photographs and other images, implemented in Hitoplive. It functions as a standalone system (i.e. as an online photo gallery) or as a plugin adding many image management features to eris. Currently it does very little indeed but all kinds of XML-based cleverness is anticipated.
Daguerre is named for Louis Daguerre, a French painter who invented a procedure for making a direct positive image on a silver plate, called the 'Daguerrotype' , which he announced in 1839. (His partner Joseph Niepce, who made the first negative in 1816, deserves equal credit for the development of photography, but died before their joint work was brought to fruition.)
You can download Daguerre from here. It is (self-evidently) open source, and is released under the Artistic License.
